'Legends' Star Winter Ave Zoli Answers Our 26 Burning Questions
On Season 2 of the TNT spy thriller, the former 'Sons of Anarchy' star portrays a bad-ass detective.
In the sophomore season of the espionage thriller, Legends, Winter Ave Zoli steps into the role of Detective Gabriella Laska, a career-driven woman who solves mysteries alongside Sean Bean's Martin Odum. For Sons of Anarchy fans, her character is vastly different from the fiercely independent porn star Lyla Winston. The actress took time away from investigating Russian gangsters and crooks on the TNT drama (airs Monday at 10/9c) to answer our 26 burning questions.
Album you're currently listening to on repeat:
Coldplay's Ghost Stories. It’s been on repeat for a very long while now!
Best and most bad-ass thing you've seen on the set of Legends:
The most bad-ass would have to be Sean Bean playing Dmitry Petrovich. While working with Sean, I remember the subtleties of his character were disarming. The best was shooting on the Charles Bridge. I grew up in Prague and spent a lot of time there, so coming back years later to work was an amazing experience. It was magical!
Character you've played that you'd like to play again one day:
I would love to reprise Tatiana from Cat Run 2. Now she was bad-ass.
Describe yourself in five words or less:
Always looking for the humor.
Embarrassing story you're ready to share with the world:
I was running up a canyon in Los Angeles and managed to sprain my ankle right at the top. It took about five people, all together, to get me down the hill to my car. Strangers were passing me along to whomever was going my direction, helping me hobble down.
Favorite detective from the big or small screen:
My favorite is Inspector Clouseau from The Pink Panther.
GIF that accurately describes how you feel today:
A cat sliding down the stairs and can’t be bothered to walk. #Exhausted.
Hardest thing you've had to do on camera:
A while back I was in the Deep Dish music video for "Dreams". I was running around, barefoot in the snow, on a night shoot, in -22 degrees Fahrenheit. It was a really tough shoot.
Interesting person you met recently:
On the weekends, there is a guy who comes to our neighborhood who brings a bunch of different instruments, like bongos and keyboards, for kids to play with. He lets them jam with him on the sidewalk. He seems so happy and content.
Job you'd have if you weren't an actress:
If I were not an actress, I would be doing something in the fashion world. It would probably have something to do with sustainable fashion.
Karaoke song you slay:
I’ve never done karaoke, but if I did I would probably slay a Disney song. My most favorite song is "Part of Your World" from The Little Mermaid.
Lyla Winston or Detective Gabriella Laska — who would be the better drinking buddy?
Hands down, Gabi makes the better drinking partner. She’s Czech. She’ll drink anyone under the table.
Movie you saw as a child that scared you even though it wasn't meant to be scary:
I remember E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial really scared me. Every time E.T. got scared, I would freak out.
Nineties music video you still really appreciate:
One of my favorite videos I still love is "Around the World" by Daft Punk.
One thing we should know about Gabriella Laska:
Gabi is a ball buster, but underneath it all there is a softness.
Pet peeve:
Dirty floors. I love vacuuming.
Question you get asked all the time:
“How was it to work on the set of Sons of Anarchy?” Just for the record, it was great.
Revelations you've had about Sean Bean and the rest of the Legends cast since you started working with them:
I don’t know if I had any revelations, but I enjoyed every minute of it. Sean was startlingly humble and sweet. I absolutely loved working with my co-stars.
Sons of Anarchy character you wouldn't mind dating:
Opie. He was the sweetest and possibly the least psychotic.
Three things we can expect to see on Season 2 of Legends:
You can expect to see lots of plot twists, action, and intrigue in Season 2.
Up-and-coming band you hope blows up soon:
A friend of mine is the lead singer/guitarist in a band called Bonnie Dune. I think they’re great. They’ve been working at it a long time. I hope they get their break.
Vine video that cracks you up the most:
Weirdest thing you've ever had to do on set:
The weirdest thing I had to do was a scene as Lyla. It was my first “porn” scene I shot on Sons of Anarchy. I had to beat a guy with his shoe and then shove a bottle up his a**.
Since we will not ask for your favorite "X word," give us your shameless plug here:
Watch Legends on TNT every Monday night at 10/9c! You’ll thank me later.
YouTube video you've been showing all of your friends lately:
It’s a toss up between Buzzfeed’s “When It Rain’s in LA” and a HuffPost "Good News" video of disabled animals being given walking aids. I have a massive love for animals!
If you didn't know Zimbio was an entertainment site, what would you think "a Zimbio" was?
I would think a Zimbio was some sort of Italian food. A Zimbio would be something like a Calzone.
