Obviously, Steve Carell's Super Bowl Commercial With Cardi B And Lil Jon Was Amazing
Steve Carell's "okurrr" is the best "okurrr."
You don't have to be a fan of soda to appreciate Pepsi today.
During the 2019 Super Bowl on Sunday, Feb. 3, the iconic cola company brought together three equally iconic celebrities: Steve Carell, Cardi B, and Lil Jon. The spot addresses the age-old question "Is Pepsi okay?" and naturally, Carell's answer is a resounding "yes."
In the ad, Carell confronts a server for asking a customer if Pepsi is an acceptable replacement for a coke.
"'Is Pepsi okay?'" Carell says incredulously. "'Is Pepsi OKAY?!' Wow! Are puppies okay? Are shooting stars okay? Is the laughter of a small child okay?"
"Are you with me? You seem confused. Let's role play," he goes on, and with a snap of his fingers, Carell is in the server's clothes.
The actor goes on to demonstrate just how enthusiastically a server should offer a Pepsi.
"You gotta say it with pride, okay? Pepsi is more than 'okay!'" he says.
Enter rapper Lil Jon, whose own signature phrase is, "okaaay!" He's quickly followed by the real star of the spot, Cardi B.
"Okurrr!" she exclaims as she steps into the diner to the tune of her hit single, "I Like It."
"Okay, what have we learned today?" Carell asks the server and customers as Cardi plops down in their booth.
"I want a Pepsi," they unanimously concede, just before Carell lets out a very Michael Scott-esque "okurrrrrr."
The 2019 Super Bowl took place at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, Georgia.
