Ferris Bueller Dates Aunt Jackie! Matthew Broderick Is Joining 'The Conners'
The actor will play Laurie Metcalf's onscreen love interest.
Roseanne Barr is out, Matthew Broderick is in.
The Manchester by the Sea star is set to join the cast of The Conners as Peter, and his role isn't just a cameo. According to Deadline, Broderick is slated to star as Jackie's (Laurie Metcalf) love interest. This is huge considering the last time Jackie had a significant other on the show was back in seasons 6 to 8 of Roseanne, which aired from 1993 to 1996.
His debut will be onThe Conners' Halloween episode, which airs October 30, and is appropriately titled "There Won't Be Blood."
Per IMDB, "It's Halloween, the favorite time of year for the Conners, but an email from the school banning certain costumes, including Mark's, sets off an argument between Dan and Darlene. Jackie introduces someone new to the family at the Halloween party and insists that Dan vet him, only to immediately wish that she hadn't."
It's unclear if Peter will appear in more than one episode, but he sure will be an exciting addition to the Langford gang.
The Conners isn't the only show Broderick is lining up. You can also catch him in the upcoming Netflix series, Daybreak, in which he will portray Principal Burr, the "cheerful and upbeat" administrator of a high school in Glendale, California. Based on the graphic novel of the same name, Daybreak follows a 17-year-old boy named Josh who is on the hunt for his girlfriend, Sam, after an apocalypse strikes the world.
And that's not all! The iconic actor also signed on to be part of Ryan Murphy's Hurricane Katrina-focused season of American Crime Story, as well as Paramount TV's Bettyville, which has yet to land a network.
