The Ages of Disney Princesses Will Shock You
Snow White is HOW old?
It's no surprise why many young girls (and grown-ass women) hold on to the fantasy of becoming a Disney princess. They're beautiful, they're rich, and they all have gorgeous men who fought tooth and nail to win over their affections. Sounds romantic, right? That is until you realize that most are underage and mentally incapable, according to current law, of making the decision to marry. Whomp, whomp.
Grimms' Fairy Tales (the inspiration behind most Disney princess stories) were obviously written at a time when a) age was nothing but a number, b) pre-arranged marriage was socially acceptable, and c) the idea of becoming overnight royalty was an unattainable, though super fun fantasy. It's pretty apparent that C still holds true today (cough, Kate Middleton), but there's no denying that some of our favorite Disney love stories are both creepy and inappropriate in the context of a more modernized society. Thank goodness for the power of naivety.
To ruin some of your favorite childhood memories, we've ordered 11 princesses from from oldest to youngest in a list below. Are there any that shock you? If so, be sure to sound off in the comment section!
